How to set up your home coaching “studio” to get the most out of your online sessions. a few tweaks make a huge difference!

Scheduling, lessons, and payment are all streamlined from the comfort of home. For parents with student actors, it’s one fewer activity to drive to each week. With the right home set up, there are no disadvantages to choosing an online coach!

Use a laptop or desktop computer if possible (better than phone/tablet for audio).
Use wireless earbuds if desired to reduce echo and improve sound quality.
Keep accompaniment tracks on a separate device behind you.
Place your device on a stable surface.

Zoom Audio Settings
Open Zoom → Settings → Audio
Basic Settings
Select the correct microphone and speaker. Using an external
Test speaker and microphone.
Advanced Settings
Go to Audio → Advanced and set:
Suppress background noise: Low
Echo cancellation: Auto
Enable Original Sound
In Zoom settings, turn on:
Show in-meeting option to enable Original Sound
Then, once you enter the session, click:
Turn ON Original Sound
If available, also enable:
High fidelity music mode
Stereo audio

Choose a quiet room with open space and a steady table or shelf. You should have room to move in an open space measuring six square feet or greater.
Close nearby windows and turn off fans.
Position yourself 2–4 feet from the microphone.
If singing. step back slightly from the mic. Avoid singing directly into the mic at very close range.

Please log into your online session five minutes before your Zoom begins using the link from your email confirmation. Please note you will not be admitted into a Zoom without a prepaid, scheduled session.
Please test your camera and microphone and check your settings before start time to ensure you get the most out of your session!
